We have closely been monitoring updates from NBN Co, and they have recently released Important information  regarding monitored fire alarm and emergency lift phone services.

What you need to know

With the nbn(tm) network rollout now complete and the approaching completion of mass disconnection from the legacy copper network, a Disconnection Date of 18 March 2022 has now been set for remaining fire and lift services connected to the legacy copper network.

It is crucial that any lift phones or monitored fire alarms that are still connected to the legacy copper network are registered to an alternative technology (such as a GSM gateway  before 18 March 2022 to keep them working.

As hard disconnections will occur shortly after 18 March 2022, the ability to register any new equipment on nbn's Fire and Lift Register (FAL) will close on 25 February 2022.

Now Technologies is working closely with Telstra and have been able to confirm an arrangement that signed services will have a time window between now and October to have the GSM Gateways installed and current lift lines not terminated. Now Telecom has registered your Lift Line with nbn's Fire and Lift Register (FAL).

Existing Now Telecom end user customers must have their signed 4G GSM Gateway application forms back to their Strata company by March 15th 2022.

What does this mean for you?

Disconnection of almost all fire and lift services from the legacy copper network, including emergency lift phones and monitored fire alarms, will occur shortly after 18 March 2022. For these services to keep working, Fire and Lift companies, businesses, government entities, building and strata managers, body corporates and private users must take action to ensure these services are migrated to an alternative network before 18th  March 2022.

To assist our customers, Now Technologies will:

*   We will call you and provide a debrief on the migration plan.
*   Conduct a review of connections for all the properties we provide services for.
*   Forward application forms to move across onto a GSM gateway product , to be submitted to the committee for consideration
*   Key dates : Have the PSTN lines registered by Feb 25th with on nbn's Fire and Lift Register (FAL)
*   Have 4G GSM Gateway application forms back to Now Telecom by March 15th 2022.
